{"cve":"CVE-2025-69783","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-16T16:16:13.333","modified":"2026-06-17T10:00:52.650","status":"Analyzed","description":"A local attacker can bypass OpenEDR's 2.5.1.0 self-defense mechanism by renaming a malicious executable to match a trusted process name (e.g., csrss.exe, edrsvc.exe, edrcon.exe). This allows unauthorized interaction with the OpenEDR kernel driver, granting access to privileged functionality such as configuration changes, process monitoring, and IOCTL communication that should be restricted to trusted components. While this issue alone does not directly grant SYSTEM privileges, it breaks OpenEDR's trust model and enables further exploitation leading to full local privilege escalation.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-250"],"references":["https://github.com/ComodoSecurity/openedr","https://github.com/ComodoSecurity/openedr/issues/49","https://scavengersecurity.com/posts/edr-as-rootkit-2/","https://www.openedr.com/"],"products":["xcitium:openedr"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-69783","score":0.00163,"percentile":0.05507,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
