From 0.47.0 and prior to 0.49.1, in some situations, Strimzi creates an incorrect Kubernetes Role which grants the Apache Kafka Connect and Apache Kafka MirrorMaker 2 operands the GET access to all Kubernetes Secrets that exist in the given Kubernetes namespace. The issue is fixed in Strimzi 0.49.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.4},"cwes":["CWE-200","CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/strimzi/strimzi-kafka-operator/commit/c8a14935e99c91eb0dd865431f46515da9f82ccc","https://github.com/strimzi/strimzi-kafka-operator/security/advisories/GHSA-xrhh-hx36-485q"],"products":["linuxfoundation:strimzi"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:40.427100871+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-66623","score":0.00172,"percentile":0.06598,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xrhh-hx36-485q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xrhh-hx36-485q","summary":"Strimzi allows unrestricted access to all Secrets in the same Kubernetes namespace from Kafka Connect and MirrorMaker 2 operands","modified":"2025-12-05T22:32:40.472758Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.strimzi:strimzi","purl":"pkg:maven/io.strimzi/strimzi","ranges":[">=0.47.0 <0.49.1"],"fixed":["0.49.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
