{"cve":"CVE-2025-66564","nvd":{"published":"2025-12-04T23:15:47.430","modified":"2026-10-18T15:10:00.097","status":"Analyzed","description":"Sigstore Timestamp Authority is a service for issuing RFC 3161 timestamps. Prior to 2.0.3, Function api.ParseJSONRequest currently splits (via a call to strings.Split) an optionally-provided OID (which is untrusted data) on periods. Similarly, function api.getContentType splits the Content-Type header (which is also untrusted data) on an application string. As a result, in the face of a malicious request with either an excessively long OID in the payload containing many period characters or a malformed Content-Type header, a call to api.ParseJSONRequest or api.getContentType incurs allocations of O(n) bytes (where n stands for the length of the function's argument). This vulnerability is fixed in 2.0.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-405"],"references":["https://github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority/commit/0cae34e197d685a14904e0bad135b89d13b69421","https://github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority/security/advisories/GHSA-4qg8-fj49-pxjh"],"products":["linuxfoundation:sigstore_timestamp_authority"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:40.427100871+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-66564","score":0.00443,"percentile":0.38203,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-4qg8-fj49-pxjh","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4qg8-fj49-pxjh","summary":"Sigstore Timestamp Authority allocates excessive memory during request parsing","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:31.413997158Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority","ranges":["<2.0.3"],"fixed":["2.0.3"]}]},{"id":"GO-2025-4192","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2025-4192","summary":"Sigstore Timestamp Authority allocates excessive memory during request parsing in github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority","modified":"2026-02-04T03:13:38.955698Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/sigstore/timestamp-authority/v2","ranges":["<2.0.3"],"fixed":["2.0.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
