Prior to 2.9.8, there is a security issue exists in the exec_in_pod tool of the mcp-server-kubernetes MCP Server. The tool accepts user-provided commands in both array and string formats. When a string format is provided, it is passed directly to shell interpretation (sh -c) without input validation, allowing shell metacharacters to be interpreted. This vulnerability can be exploited through direct command injection or indirect prompt injection attacks, where AI agents may execute commands without explicit user intent. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.9.8.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-77"],"references":["https://github.com/Flux159/mcp-server-kubernetes/commit/d091107ff92d9ffad1b3c295092f142d6578c48b","https://github.com/Flux159/mcp-server-kubernetes/security/advisories/GHSA-wvxp-jp4w-w8wg","https://github.com/Flux159/mcp-server-kubernetes/security/advisories/GHSA-wvxp-jp4w-w8wg"],"products":["suyogs:mcp-server-kubernetes"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:40.427100871+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-66404","score":0.0148,"percentile":0.7392,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-wvxp-jp4w-w8wg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-wvxp-jp4w-w8wg","summary":"mcp-server-kubernetes has potential security issue in exec_in_pod tool","modified":"2025-12-05T12:28:11.494576Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"mcp-server-kubernetes","purl":"pkg:npm/mcp-server-kubernetes","ranges":["<2.9.8"],"fixed":["2.9.8"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
