Prior to version 2.19.0, an unauthenticated attacker can pollute the internal state (`restoreFilePath`) of the server via the `/skServer/validateBackup` endpoint. This allows the attacker to hijack the administrator's \"Restore\" functionality to overwrite critical server configuration files (e.g., `security.json`, `package.json`), leading to account takeover and Remote Code Execution (RCE). Version 2.19.0 patches this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-78","CWE-913"],"references":["https://github.com/SignalK/signalk-server/releases/tag/v2.19.0","https://github.com/SignalK/signalk-server/security/advisories/GHSA-w3x5-7c4c-66p9"],"products":["signalk:signal_k_server"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:18:08.089039631+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-66398","score":0.1985,"percentile":0.97397,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-w3x5-7c4c-66p9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-w3x5-7c4c-66p9","summary":"Signal K Server has Unauthenticated State Pollution leading to Remote Code Execution (RCE)","modified":"2026-02-03T03:14:47.787144Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"signalk-server","purl":"pkg:npm/signalk-server","ranges":["<2.19.0"],"fixed":["2.19.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
