In versions 3.2.2 and earlier and version 4.0.0, auth0/node-jws has an improper signature verification vulnerability when using the HS256 algorithm under specific conditions. Applications are affected when they use the jws.createVerify() function for HMAC algorithms and use user-provided data from the JSON Web Signature protected header or payload in HMAC secret lookup routines, which can allow attackers to bypass signature verification. This issue has been patched in versions 3.2.3 and 4.0.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-347"],"references":["https://github.com/auth0/node-jws/commit/34c45b2c04434f925b638de6a061de9339c0ea2e","https://github.com/auth0/node-jws/security/advisories/GHSA-869p-cjfg-cm3x"],"products":["auth0:node-jws"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:40.427100871+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-65945","score":0.00215,"percentile":0.11845,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-869p-cjfg-cm3x","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-869p-cjfg-cm3x","summary":"auth0/node-jws Improperly Verifies HMAC Signature","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:31.797792758Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"jws","purl":"pkg:npm/jws","ranges":["<3.2.3"],"fixed":["3.2.3"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"jws","purl":"pkg:npm/jws","ranges":[">=4.0.0 <4.0.1"],"fixed":["4.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
