Prior to version 5.15.8, a mismatch exists between how Astro normalizes request paths for routing/rendering and how the application’s middleware reads the path for validation checks. Astro internally applies decodeURI() to determine which route to render, while the middleware uses context.url.pathname without applying the same normalization (decodeURI). This discrepancy may allow attackers to reach protected routes using encoded path variants that pass routing but bypass validation checks. This issue has been patched in version 5.15.8.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.9},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/withastro/astro/commit/6f800813516b07bbe12c666a92937525fddb58ce","https://github.com/withastro/astro/security/advisories/GHSA-ggxq-hp9w-j794"],"products":["astro:astro"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:02.354564667+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-64765","score":0.00538,"percentile":0.45046,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-ggxq-hp9w-j794","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-ggxq-hp9w-j794","summary":"Astro's middleware authentication checks based on url.pathname can be bypassed via url encoded values","modified":"2026-02-04T03:01:27.986221Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"astro","purl":"pkg:npm/astro","ranges":["<5.15.8"],"fixed":["5.15.8"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
