{"cve":"CVE-2025-64435","nvd":{"published":"2025-11-07T23:15:45.850","modified":"2026-06-17T09:54:22.827","status":"Analyzed","description":"KubeVirt is a virtual machine management add-on for Kubernetes. Prior to 1.7.0-beta.0, a logic flaw in the virt-controller allows an attacker to disrupt the control over a running VMI by creating a pod with the same labels as the legitimate virt-launcher pod associated with the VMI. This can mislead the virt-controller into associating the fake pod with the VMI, resulting in incorrect status updates and potentially causing a DoS (Denial-of-Service). This vulnerability is fixed in 1.7.0-beta.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-703"],"references":["https://github.com/kubevirt/kubevirt/commit/9a6f4a3a707992038ef705da4cb3bba8c89d36ba","https://github.com/kubevirt/kubevirt/security/advisories/GHSA-9m94-w2vq-hcf9"],"products":["kubevirt:kubevirt"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:14:53.307938015+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-64435","score":0.00412,"percentile":0.35463,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9m94-w2vq-hcf9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9m94-w2vq-hcf9","summary":"KubeVirt VMI Denial-of-Service (DoS) Using Pod Impersonation","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:30.784925702Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"kubevirt.io/kubevirt","purl":"pkg:golang/kubevirt.io/kubevirt","ranges":["<1.7.0-beta.0"],"fixed":["1.7.0-beta.0"]}]},{"id":"GO-2025-4105","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2025-4105","summary":"KubeVirt VMI Denial-of-Service (DoS) Using Pod Impersonation in kubevirt.io/kubevirt","modified":"2026-06-20T18:29:20.825118618Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"kubevirt.io/kubevirt","purl":"pkg:golang/kubevirt.io/kubevirt","ranges":["<1.7.0-beta.0"],"fixed":["1.7.0-beta.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
