{"cve":"CVE-2025-64173","nvd":{"published":"2025-11-06T21:15:43.660","modified":"2026-06-17T09:53:57.273","status":"Deferred","description":"Apollo Router Core is a configurable graph router written in Rust to run a federated supergraph using Apollo Federation 2. In versions 1.61.11 below, as well as 2.0.0-alpha.0 through 2.8.1-rc.0, a vulnerability allowed for unauthenticated queries to access data that required additional access controls. Router incorrectly handled access control directives on interface types/fields and their implementing object types/fields, applying them to interface types/fields while ignoring directives on their implementing object types/fields when all implementations had the same requirements. Apollo Router customers defining @authenticated, @requiresScopes, or @policy directives inconsistently on polymorphic types (i.e., object types that implement interface types) are impacted. This issue is fixed in versions 1.61.12 and 2.8.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-288"],"references":["https://github.com/apollographql/router/releases/tag/v2.8.1","https://github.com/apollographql/router/security/advisories/GHSA-x33c-7c2v-mrj9","https://www.apollographql.com/docs/graphos/routing/security/authorization#authorization-directives"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:14:53.307938015+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-64173","score":0.00341,"percentile":0.27628,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x33c-7c2v-mrj9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x33c-7c2v-mrj9","summary":"Apollo Router Affected by an Access Control Bypass on Polymorphic Types","modified":"2025-11-06T23:13:08Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"apollo-router","purl":"pkg:cargo/apollo-router","ranges":["<1.61.12"],"fixed":["1.61.12"]},{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"apollo-router","purl":"pkg:cargo/apollo-router","ranges":[">=2.0.0-alpha.0 <2.8.1"],"fixed":["2.8.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
