{"cve":"CVE-2025-64170","nvd":{"published":"2025-11-12T21:15:53.433","modified":"2026-10-18T20:10:00.110","status":"Deferred","description":"sudo-rs is a memory safe implementation of sudo and su written in Rust. Starting in version 0.2.7 and prior to version 0.2.10, if a user begins entering a password but does not press return for an extended period, a password timeout may occur. When this happens, the keystrokes that were entered are echoed back to the console. This could reveal partial password information, possibly exposing history files when not carefully handled by the user and on screen, usable for Social Engineering or Pass-By attacks. Version 0.2.10 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:P/AC:H/PR:H/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":3.8},"cwes":["CWE-549"],"references":["https://github.com/trifectatechfoundation/sudo-rs/releases/tag/v0.2.10","https://github.com/trifectatechfoundation/sudo-rs/security/advisories/GHSA-c978-wq47-pvvw"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:02.354564667+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-64170","score":0.0015,"percentile":0.04144,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-c978-wq47-pvvw","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-c978-wq47-pvvw","summary":"sudo-rs: Partial password reveal is possible after timeout","modified":"2025-11-15T03:13:07Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"sudo-rs","purl":"pkg:cargo/sudo-rs","ranges":[">=0.2.7 <0.2.10"],"fixed":["0.2.10"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
