Prior to version 16.4.0, a cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability was identified. The issue arises from incorrect parsing of the Content-Type header in requests. Specifically, requests with Content-Type values such as application/x-www-form-urlencoded, multipart/form-data, or text/plain could be misinterpreted as application/json. This misinterpretation bypasses the preflight checks performed by the fetch() API, potentially allowing unauthorized actions to be performed on behalf of an authenticated user. This issue has been patched in version 16.4.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-352"],"references":["https://github.com/mercurius-js/mercurius/commit/962d402ec7a92342f4a1b7f5f04af01776838c3c","https://github.com/mercurius-js/mercurius/pull/1187","https://github.com/mercurius-js/mercurius/security/advisories/GHSA-v66j-6wwf-jc57","https://github.com/mercurius-js/mercurius/security/advisories/GHSA-v66j-6wwf-jc57"],"products":["mercurius_project:mercurius"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:25:53.701907451+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-64166","score":0.00184,"percentile":0.07957,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-v66j-6wwf-jc57","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-v66j-6wwf-jc57","summary":"Mercurius: Incorrect Content-Type parsing can lead to CSRF attack","modified":"2026-03-05T20:46:36.485530Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"mercurius","purl":"pkg:npm/mercurius","ranges":["<16.4.0"],"fixed":["16.4.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
