Prior to version 2.52.0, developers working with Ray as a development tool can be exploited via a critical RCE vulnerability exploitable via Firefox and Safari. This vulnerability is due to an insufficient guard against browser-based attacks, as the current defense uses the User-Agent header starting with the string \"Mozilla\" as a defense mechanism. This defense is insufficient as the fetch specification allows the User-Agent header to be modified. Combined with a DNS rebinding attack against the browser, and this vulnerability is exploitable against a developer running Ray who inadvertently visits a malicious website, or is served a malicious advertisement (malvertising). This issue has been patched in version 2.52.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H","score":9.4},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-94","CWE-352"],"references":["https://github.com/ray-project/ray/commit/70e7c72780bdec075dba6cad1afe0832772bfe09","https://github.com/ray-project/ray/security/advisories/GHSA-q279-jhrf-cc6v","https://www.bitsight.com/blog/rondodox-botnet-infrastructure-analysis","https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog?field_cve=CVE-2025-62593"],"products":["anyscale:ray"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:02.354564667+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-62593","score":0.62459,"percentile":0.99181,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":{"cve":"CVE-2025-62593","date_added":"2026-08-17","due_date":"2026-08-20","vendor":"Ray-Project","product":"Ray","known_ransomware":false},"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-q279-jhrf-cc6v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-q279-jhrf-cc6v","summary":"Ray is vulnerable to Critical RCE via Safari & Firefox Browsers through DNS Rebinding Attack","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:58.426794053Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"ray","purl":"pkg:pypi/ray","ranges":["<2.52.0"],"fixed":["2.52.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-520","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-520","summary":"Ray is vulnerable to Critical RCE via Safari & Firefox Browsers through DNS Rebinding Attack","modified":"2026-07-01T20:23:03.643178Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"ray","purl":"pkg:pypi/ray","ranges":["<2.52.0"],"fixed":["2.52.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
