{"cve":"CVE-2025-61786","nvd":{"published":"2025-10-08T01:15:33.010","modified":"2026-10-08T13:10:00.200","status":"Analyzed","description":"Deno is a JavaScript, TypeScript, and WebAssembly runtime. In versions prior to 2.5.3 and 2.2.15, `Deno.FsFile.prototype.stat` and `Deno.FsFile.prototype.statSync` are not limited by the permission model check `--deny-read=./`. It's possible to retrieve stats from files that the user do not have explicit read access to (the script is executed with `--deny-read=./`). Similar APIs like `Deno.stat` and `Deno.statSync` require `allow-read` permission, however, when a file is opened, even with file-write only flags and deny-read permission, it's still possible to retrieve file stats, and thus bypass the permission model. Versions 2.5.3 and 2.2.15 fix the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":3.3},"cwes":["CWE-269"],"references":["https://github.com/denoland/deno/commit/1ab2268c0bcbf9b0468e0e36963f77f8c31c73ec","https://github.com/denoland/deno/pull/30876","https://github.com/denoland/deno/releases/tag/v2.2.15","https://github.com/denoland/deno/releases/tag/v2.5.3","https://github.com/denoland/deno/security/advisories/GHSA-qq26-84mh-26j9"],"products":["deno:deno"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:11:26.888974865+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-61786","score":0.00195,"percentile":0.09148,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qq26-84mh-26j9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qq26-84mh-26j9","summary":"Deno's --deny-read check does not prevent permission bypass","modified":"2025-10-08T18:27:30.407482Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"deno","purl":"pkg:cargo/deno","ranges":["<2.5.3"],"fixed":["2.5.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
