{"cve":"CVE-2025-59962","nvd":{"published":"2025-10-09T16:15:46.247","modified":"2026-10-18T21:10:00.120","status":"Analyzed","description":"An Access of Uninitialized Pointer vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved with BGP sharding configured allows an attacker triggering indirect next-hop updates, along with timing outside the attacker's control, to cause rpd to crash and restart, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS).\n\nWith BGP sharding enabled, triggering route resolution of an indirect next-hop (e.g., an IGP route change over which a BGP route gets resolved), may cause rpd to crash and restart. An attacker causing continuous IGP route churn, resulting in repeated route re-resolution, will increase the likelihood of triggering this issue, leading to a potentially extended DoS condition.\n\nThis issue affects:\n\nJunos OS:\n\n\n\n * all versions before 21.4R3-S6, \n * from 22.1 before 22.1R3-S6, \n * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S3, \n * from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S3, \n * from 22.4 before 22.4R3, \n * from 23.2 before 23.2R2; \n\n\n\n\nJunos OS Evolved: \n\n\n\n * all versions before 22.3R3-S3-EVO, \n * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-EVO, \n * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-EVO.\n\n\n\n\nVersions before Junos OS 21.3R1 and Junos OS Evolved 21.3R1-EVO are unaffected by this issue.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:L/AU:Y/R:A/V:C/RE:M","score":6.0},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-824"],"references":["https://supportportal.juniper.net/JSA103151"],"products":["juniper:junos","juniper:junos_os_evolved"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:11:26.888974865+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-59962","score":0.00177,"percentile":0.07137,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
