Prior to version 0.1.2, there is a command injection vulnerability in git-commiters. This vulnerability manifests with the library's primary exported API: gitCommiters(options, callback) which allows specifying options such as cwd for current working directory and revisionRange as a revision pointer, such as HEAD. However, the library does not sanitize for user input or practice secure process execution API to separate commands from their arguments and as such, uncontrolled user input is concatenated into command execution. This issue has been patched in version 0.1.2.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-77","CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/snowyu/git-commiters.js/commit/7f0abfedbf506e3a61ac875d91324a8dbe756e84","https://github.com/snowyu/git-commiters.js/security/advisories/GHSA-g38c-wxjf-xrh6","https://github.com/snowyu/git-commiters.js/security/advisories/GHSA-g38c-wxjf-xrh6"],"products":["riceball:git-commiters"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:10:08.713834912+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-59831","score":0.04171,"percentile":0.90828,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-g38c-wxjf-xrh6","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-g38c-wxjf-xrh6","summary":"`git-comiters` Command Injection vulnerability","modified":"2025-10-16T20:41:52Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"git-commiters","purl":"pkg:npm/git-commiters","ranges":["<0.1.2"],"fixed":["0.1.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
