A cross-site scripting issue was reported in versions of the MCP Inspector local development tool prior to 0.16.6 when connecting to untrusted remote MCP servers with a malicious redirect URI. This could be leveraged to interact directly with the inspector proxy to trigger arbitrary command execution. Users are advised to update to 0.16.6 to resolve this issue.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.6},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-84"],"references":["https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/inspector/commit/650f3090d26344a672026b737d81586595bb1f60","https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/inspector/security/advisories/GHSA-g9hg-qhmf-q45m"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:08:41.295252406+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-58444","score":0.00705,"percentile":0.53369,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-g9hg-qhmf-q45m","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-g9hg-qhmf-q45m","summary":"MCP Inspector is Vulnerable to Potential Command Execution via XSS When Connecting to an Untrusted MCP Server","modified":"2025-09-26T17:07:01Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@modelcontextprotocol/inspector","purl":"pkg:npm/%40modelcontextprotocol/inspector","ranges":["<0.16.6"],"fixed":["0.16.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
