{"cve":"CVE-2025-57749","nvd":{"published":"2025-08-20T22:15:29.670","modified":"2026-06-17T09:43:21.740","status":"Analyzed","description":"n8n is a workflow automation platform. Before 1.106.0, a symlink traversal vulnerability was discovered in the Read/Write File node in n8n. While the node attempts to restrict access to sensitive directories and files, it does not properly account for symbolic links (symlinks). An attacker with the ability to create symlinks—such as by using the Execute Command node—could exploit this to bypass the intended directory restrictions and read from or write to otherwise inaccessible paths. Users of n8n.cloud are not impacted. Affected users should update to version 1.106.0 or later.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-59"],"references":["https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/pull/17735","https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/security/advisories/GHSA-ggjm-f3g4-rwmm"],"products":["n8n:n8n"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:07:46.309729541+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-57749","score":0.00488,"percentile":0.42061,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-ggjm-f3g4-rwmm","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-ggjm-f3g4-rwmm","summary":"n8n symlink traversal vulnerability in \"Read/Write File\" node allows access to restricted files","modified":"2025-08-21T04:07:03Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"n8n","purl":"pkg:npm/n8n","ranges":["<1.106.0"],"fixed":["1.106.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
