Prior to version 2.1.1, duplicate logging of the input values in the fetch:template action in the Scaffolder meant that some of the secrets were not properly redacted. If ${{ secrets.x }} is not passed through to fetch:template there is no impact. This issue has been resolved in 2.1.1 of the scaffolder-backend plugin. A workaround for this issue involves Template Authors removing the use of ${{ secrets }} being used as an argument to fetch:template.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":2.6},"cwes":["CWE-532"],"references":["https://github.com/backstage/backstage/commit/c371f6fe12371de31dca537510e6653e287cdc2e","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/security/advisories/GHSA-3x3q-ghcp-whf7"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:06:45.861874017+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-55285","score":0.00243,"percentile":0.15558,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-3x3q-ghcp-whf7","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-3x3q-ghcp-whf7","summary":"Template Secret leakage in logs in Scaffolder when using `fetch:template`","modified":"2025-09-26T17:19:17Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend","purl":"pkg:npm/%40backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend","ranges":["<2.1.1"],"fixed":["2.1.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
