Prior to version 3.18.5, it is possible to craft a JSON Schema file in a manner which could cause Helm to use all available memory and have an out of memory (OOM) termination. This issue has been resolved in Helm 3.18.5. A workaround involves ensuring all Helm charts that are being loaded into Helm do not have any reference of $ref pointing to /dev/zero.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/helm/helm/commit/b78692c18f0fb38fe5ba4571a674de067a4c53a5","https://github.com/helm/helm/security/advisories/GHSA-9h84-qmv7-982p"],"products":["helm:helm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:06:45.861874017+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-55199","score":0.00334,"percentile":0.2679,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9h84-qmv7-982p","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9h84-qmv7-982p","summary":"Helm Charts with Specific JSON Schema Values Can Cause Memory Exhaustion","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:26.749446866Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"helm.sh/helm/v3","purl":"pkg:golang/helm.sh/helm/v3","ranges":["<3.18.5"],"fixed":["3.18.5"]}]},{"id":"GO-2025-3887","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2025-3887","summary":"Helm Charts with Specific JSON Schema Values Can Cause Memory Exhaustion in helm.sh/helm","modified":"2026-02-04T03:43:48.268495Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"helm.sh/helm","purl":"pkg:golang/helm.sh/helm","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"helm.sh/helm/v3","purl":"pkg:golang/helm.sh/helm/v3","ranges":["<3.18.5"],"fixed":["3.18.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
