{"cve":"CVE-2025-54886","nvd":{"published":"2025-08-08T01:15:25.120","modified":"2026-06-17T09:40:52.123","status":"Deferred","description":"skops is a Python library which helps users share and ship their scikit-learn based models. In versions 0.12.0 and below, the Card.get_model does not contain any logic to prevent arbitrary code execution. The Card.get_model function supports both joblib and skops for model loading. When loading .skops models, it uses skops' secure loading with trusted type validation, raising errors for untrusted types unless explicitly allowed. However, when non-.zip file formats are provided, the function silently falls back to joblib without warning. Unlike skops, joblib allows arbitrary code execution during loading, bypassing security measures and potentially enabling malicious code execution. This issue is fixed in version 0.13.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.4},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://github.com/skops-dev/skops/commit/29d61ea8a92f2bde6830e8f32cc72a1a87211cda","https://github.com/skops-dev/skops/security/advisories/GHSA-378x-6p4f-8jgm"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:06:45.861874017+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-54886","score":0.00235,"percentile":0.14496,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-378x-6p4f-8jgm","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-378x-6p4f-8jgm","summary":"SKOPS Card.get_model happily allows arbitrary code execution","modified":"2026-07-07T17:56:28.186014624Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"skops","purl":"pkg:pypi/skops","ranges":["<0.13.0"],"fixed":["0.13.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-1925","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-1925","summary":"SKOPS Card.get_model happily allows arbitrary code execution","modified":"2026-07-07T17:47:52.914365818Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"skops","purl":"pkg:pypi/skops","ranges":["<0.13.0"],"fixed":["0.13.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
