The intent was to restrict access to sensitive connection fields to Connection Editing Users, effectively applying a \"write-only\" model for sensitive values.\n\n\nIn Airflow 3.0.3, this model was unintentionally violated: sensitive connection information could be viewed by users with READ permissions through both the API and the UI. This behavior also bypassed the `AIRFLOW__CORE__HIDE_SENSITIVE_VAR_CONN_FIELDS` configuration option.\n\n\nThis issue does not affect Airflow 2.x, where exposing sensitive information to connection editors was the intended and documented behavior.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUsers of Airflow 3.0.3 are advised to upgrade Airflow to >=3.0.4.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-213"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread/vblmfqtydrp5zgn2q8tj3slk5podxspf","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2025/09/25/4"],"products":["apache:airflow"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:10:08.713834912+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-54831","score":0.00935,"percentile":0.60515,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-q475-2pgm-7hvp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-q475-2pgm-7hvp","summary":"Apache Airflow: Connection sensitive details exposed to users with READ permissions","modified":"2026-06-05T14:30:14.155042212Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"apache-airflow","purl":"pkg:pypi/apache-airflow","ranges":[">=3.0.3 <3.0.4"],"fixed":["3.0.4"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2025-85","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2025-85","summary":"","modified":"2026-06-10T17:00:26.441514282Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"apache-airflow","purl":"pkg:pypi/apache-airflow","ranges":["<=3.0.3-NA"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
