{"cve":"CVE-2025-54469","nvd":{"published":"2025-10-30T10:15:34.980","modified":"2026-10-18T00:10:00.123","status":"Deferred","description":"A vulnerability was identified in NeuVector, where the enforcer used environment variables CLUSTER_RPC_PORT and CLUSTER_LAN_PORT to generate a command to be executed via popen, without first sanitising their values.\n\n\nThe entry process of the enforcer container is the monitor\n process. When the enforcer container stops, the monitor process checks \nwhether the consul subprocess has exited. To perform this check, the \nmonitor process uses the popen function to execute a shell command that determines whether the ports used by the consul subprocess are still active.\n\n\nThe values of environment variables CLUSTER_RPC_PORT and CLUSTER_LAN_PORT\n are used directly to compose shell commands via popen without \nvalidation or sanitization. This behavior could allow a malicious user \nto inject malicious commands through these variables within the enforcer\n container.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.9},"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2025-54469","https://github.com/neuvector/neuvector/security/advisories/GHSA-c8g6-qrwh-m3vp"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:14:53.307938015+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-54469","score":0.00471,"percentile":0.40513,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-c8g6-qrwh-m3vp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-c8g6-qrwh-m3vp","summary":"NeuVector Enforcer is vulnerable to Command Injection and Buffer overflow","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:29.673458765Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/neuvector/neuvector","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/neuvector/neuvector","ranges":[">=5.3.0 <5.3.5"],"fixed":["5.3.5"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/neuvector/neuvector","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/neuvector/neuvector","ranges":[">=5.4.0 <5.4.7"],"fixed":["5.4.7"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/neuvector/neuvector","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/neuvector/neuvector","ranges":[">=0.0.0-20230727023453-1c4957d53911 <0.0.0-20251020133207-084a437033b4"],"fixed":["0.0.0-20251020133207-084a437033b4"]}]},{"id":"GO-2025-4042","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2025-4042","summary":"NeuVector Enforcer is vulnerable to Command Injection and Buffer overflow in github.com/neuvector/neuvector","modified":"2026-02-04T03:20:07.954139Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/neuvector/neuvector","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/neuvector/neuvector","ranges":[">=0.0.0-20230727023453-1c4957d53911 <0.0.0-20251020133207-084a437033b4"],"fixed":["0.0.0-20251020133207-084a437033b4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
