In versions 6.1.0-alpha.4 and below, Quiet's API for backend/frontend communication was using an insecure, not constant-time comparison function for token verification. This allowed for a potential timing attack where an attacker would try different token values and observe tiny differences in the response time (wrong characters fail faster) to guess the whole token one character at a time. This is fixed in version 6.0.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:H/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.5},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-208"],"references":["https://github.com/TryQuiet/quiet/issues/2820#issue-3021080269","https://github.com/TryQuiet/quiet/pull/2928","https://github.com/TryQuiet/quiet/security/advisories/GHSA-gpw8-w78h-xj67"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:05:46.678065081+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-53940","score":0.04198,"percentile":0.90952,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
