{"cve":"CVE-2025-53640","nvd":{"published":"2025-07-14T21:15:27.663","modified":"2026-06-17T09:38:37.360","status":"Analyzed","description":"Indico is an event management system that uses Flask-Multipass, a multi-backend authentication system for Flask. Starting in version 2.2 and prior to version 3.3.7, an endpoint used to display details of users listed in certain fields (such as ACLs) could be misused to dump basic user details (such as name, affiliation and email) in bulk. Version 3.3.7 fixes the issue. Owners of instances that allow everyone to create a user account, who wish to truly restrict access to these user details, should consider restricting user search to managers. As a workaround, it is possible to restrict access to the affected endpoints (e.g. in the webserver config), but doing so would break certain form fields which could no longer show the details of the users listed in those fields, so upgrading instead is highly recommended.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:L/SI:N/SA:N","score":5.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-639","CWE-200","CWE-862"],"references":["https://docs.getindico.io/en/stable/config/settings/#ALLOW_PUBLIC_USER_SEARCH","https://docs.getindico.io/en/stable/installation/upgrade","https://github.com/indico/indico/releases/tag/v3.3.7","https://github.com/indico/indico/security/advisories/GHSA-q28v-664f-q6wj","https://www.vicarius.io/vsociety/posts/cve202553640-detect-indico-vulnerability"],"products":["cern:indico"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:04:28.436527499+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-53640","score":0.00662,"percentile":0.51668,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-q28v-664f-q6wj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-q28v-664f-q6wj","summary":"Indico vulnerability allows attackers to bulk dump user details","modified":"2026-07-07T17:57:10.621929147Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"indico","purl":"pkg:pypi/indico","ranges":[">=2.2 <3.3.7"],"fixed":["3.3.7"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-1462","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-1462","summary":"Indico vulnerability allows attackers to bulk dump user details","modified":"2026-07-07T17:47:15.590072771Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"indico","purl":"pkg:pypi/indico","ranges":[">=2.2 <3.3.7"],"fixed":["3.3.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
