{"cve":"CVE-2025-52999","nvd":{"published":"2025-06-25T17:15:39.820","modified":"2026-06-17T09:37:27.057","status":"Deferred","description":"jackson-core contains core low-level incremental (\"streaming\") parser and generator abstractions used by Jackson Data Processor. In versions prior to 2.15.0, if a user parses an input file and it has deeply nested data, Jackson could end up throwing a StackoverflowError if the depth is particularly large. jackson-core 2.15.0 contains a configurable limit for how deep Jackson will traverse in an input document, defaulting to an allowable depth of 1000. jackson-core will throw a StreamConstraintsException if the limit is reached. jackson-databind also benefits from this change because it uses jackson-core to parse JSON inputs. As a workaround, users should avoid parsing input files from untrusted sources.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-121"],"references":["https://github.com/FasterXML/jackson-core/pull/943","https://github.com/FasterXML/jackson-core/security/advisories/GHSA-h46c-h94j-95f3"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:03:23.287444849+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-52999","score":0.00772,"percentile":0.5569,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-h46c-h94j-95f3","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-h46c-h94j-95f3","summary":"jackson-core can throw a StackoverflowError when processing deeply nested data","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:25.329011263Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"com.fasterxml.jackson.core:jackson-core","purl":"pkg:maven/com.fasterxml.jackson.core/jackson-core","ranges":["<2.15.0"],"fixed":["2.15.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
