{"cve":"CVE-2025-52903","nvd":{"published":"2025-06-26T19:15:21.587","modified":"2026-06-17T09:37:14.887","status":"Modified","description":"File Browser provides a file managing interface within a specified directory and it can be used to upload, delete, preview, rename and edit files. In versions on the 2.x branch prior to 2.33.10, the Command Execution feature of File Browser only allows the execution of shell command which have been predefined on a user-specific allowlist. Many tools allow the execution of arbitrary different commands, rendering this limitation void. The concrete impact depends on the commands being granted to the attacker, but the large number of standard commands allowing the execution of subcommands makes it likely that every user having the `Execute commands` permissions can exploit this vulnerability. Everyone who can exploit it will have full code execution rights with the uid of the server process. Version 2.33.10 contains a check for whether a command is allowed when using shell.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.0},"cwes":["CWE-77"],"references":["https://github.com/GoogleContainerTools/distroless","https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/commit/4d830f707fc4314741fd431e70c2ce50cd5a3108","https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/issues/5199","https://github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/security/advisories/GHSA-3q2w-42mv-cph4","https://github.com/sbaresearch/advisories/tree/public/2025/SBA-ADV-20250326-02_Filebrowser_Shell_Commands_Can_Spawn_Other_Commands"],"products":["filebrowser:filebrowser"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:03:23.287444849+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-52903","score":0.01206,"percentile":0.68319,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-3q2w-42mv-cph4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-3q2w-42mv-cph4","summary":"filebrowser Allows Shell Commands to Spawn Other Commands","modified":"2026-06-09T18:45:33.202768991Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","ranges":["<2.33.10"],"fixed":["2.33.10"]}]},{"id":"GO-2025-3786","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2025-3786","summary":"filebrowser Allows Shell Commands to Spawn Other Commands in github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","modified":"2026-03-03T04:57:20.683590Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/filebrowser/filebrowser/v2","ranges":["<2.33.10"],"fixed":["2.33.10"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
