{"cve":"CVE-2025-4796","nvd":{"published":"2025-08-08T19:15:36.140","modified":"2026-06-17T09:34:02.087","status":"Analyzed","description":"The Eventin plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to privilege escalation via account takeover in all versions up to, and including, 4.0.34. This is due to the plugin not properly validating a user's identity or capability prior to updating their details like email in the 'Eventin\\Speaker\\Api\\SpeakerController::update_item' function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to change arbitrary user's email addresses, including administrators, and leverage that to reset the user's password and gain access to their account.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-639"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wp-event-solution/tags/4.0.28/core/speaker/Api/SpeakerController.php#L419","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3336972/wp-event-solution/trunk/core/speaker/Api/SpeakerController.php#file0","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/9e0d441d-1da5-45e7-8a14-ce178099c0cc?source=cve"],"products":["themewinter:eventin"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:06:45.861874017+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-4796","score":0.00654,"percentile":0.51352,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
