In versions 6.3.0 to 6.7.1, there is a deserialization issue in the read method of the SparseMatrix class that can lead to a wide range of privilege escalations depending on the circumstances. This method takes in an InputStream and returns a SparseMatrix object. This issue has been patched in com.powsybl:powsybl-math: 6.7.2. A workaround for this issue involves not using SparseMatrix deserialization (SparseMatrix.read(...) methods).","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U","score":8.1},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://github.com/powsybl/powsybl-core/commit/8ed16ce41683c4aef5f6aa1dd5ae8642aa5ed2bd","https://github.com/powsybl/powsybl-core/releases/tag/v6.7.2","https://github.com/powsybl/powsybl-core/security/advisories/GHSA-f5cx-h789-j959"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:03:23.287444849+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-47771","score":0.00515,"percentile":0.43873,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-f5cx-h789-j959","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-f5cx-h789-j959","summary":"PowSyBl Core allows deserialization of untrusted SparseMatrix data","modified":"2025-06-20T16:25:12.264474Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"com.powsybl:powsybl-math","purl":"pkg:maven/com.powsybl/powsybl-math","ranges":[">=6.3.0 <6.7.2"],"fixed":["6.7.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
