{"cve":"CVE-2025-46717","nvd":{"published":"2025-05-12T15:16:01.260","modified":"2026-06-17T09:26:51.753","status":"Analyzed","description":"sudo-rs is a memory safe implementation of sudo and su written in Rust. Prior to version 0.2.6, users with no (or very limited) sudo privileges can determine whether files exists in folders that they otherwise cannot access using `sudo --list <pathname>`. Users with local access to a machine can discover the existence/non-existence of certain files, revealing potentially sensitive information in the file names. This information can also be used in conjunction with other attacks. Version 0.2.6 fixes the vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":3.3},"cwes":["CWE-497"],"references":["https://github.com/trifectatechfoundation/sudo-rs/releases/tag/v0.2.6","https://github.com/trifectatechfoundation/sudo-rs/security/advisories/GHSA-98cv-wqjx-wx8f","https://github.com/trifectatechfoundation/sudo-rs/security/advisories/GHSA-98cv-wqjx-wx8f"],"products":["trifectatech:sudo"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:01:22.920403922+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-46717","score":0.00374,"percentile":0.31342,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-98cv-wqjx-wx8f","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-98cv-wqjx-wx8f","summary":"sudo-rs Allows Low Privilege Users to Discover the Existence of Files in Inaccessible Folders","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:24.416906979Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"sudo-rs","purl":"pkg:cargo/sudo-rs","ranges":["<0.2.6"],"fixed":["0.2.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
