{"cve":"CVE-2025-34093","nvd":{"published":"2025-07-10T20:15:24.790","modified":"2026-06-17T09:13:27.207","status":"Deferred","description":"An authenticated command injection vulnerability exists in the Polycom HDX Series command shell interface accessible over Telnet. The lan traceroute command in the devcmds console accepts unsanitized input, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary system commands. By injecting shell metacharacters through the traceroute interface, an attacker can achieve remote code execution under the context of the root user. This flaw affects systems where Telnet access is enabled and either unauthenticated access is allowed or credentials are known.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.5},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rapid7/metasploit-framework/master/modules/exploits/unix/misc/polycom_hdx_traceroute_exec.rb","https://staaldraad.github.io/2017/11/12/polycom-hdx-rce/","https://vulncheck.com/advisories/polycom-hdx-series-telnet-rce","https://web.archive.org/web/20200312205144/http://support.polycom.com/content/dam/polycom-support/global/documentation/securityadvisory-remotecodeexecutionon-hdx-v0.3-hotfix-release.pdf","https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/24494"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:04:28.436527499+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-34093","score":0.02839,"percentile":0.86662,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
