{"cve":"CVE-2025-32391","nvd":{"published":"2025-04-10T14:15:29.290","modified":"2026-06-17T09:11:55.653","status":"Analyzed","description":"HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time, collaborative, markdown notes application. Prior to 1.10.3, a malicious SVG file uploaded to HedgeDoc results in the possibility of XSS when opened in a new tab instead of the editor itself. The XSS is possible by exploiting the JSONP capabilities of GitHub Gist embeddings. Only instances with the local filesystem upload backend or special configurations, where the uploads are served from the same domain as HedgeDoc, are vulnerable. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.10.3. When upgrading to HedgeDoc 1.10.3 is not possible, instance owners could add the following headers for all routes under /uploads as a first-countermeasure: Content-Disposition: attachment and Content-Security-Policy: default-src 'none'. Additionally, the external URLs in the script-src attribute of the Content-Security-Policy header should be removed.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":4.6},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/hedgedoc/hedgedoc/commit/0636b5c20b7097afccfa6641830352ad068ef964","https://github.com/hedgedoc/hedgedoc/commit/3f520ea59abf912c66d7443cb99f29a567c47748","https://github.com/hedgedoc/hedgedoc/commit/d2585fbd3b398b3359f6f88aa1fda8f4ecf2f78d","https://github.com/hedgedoc/hedgedoc/security/advisories/GHSA-3983-rrqh-mvx5"],"products":["hedgedoc:hedgedoc"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:57.946988208+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-32391","score":0.00326,"percentile":0.25762,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
