The buffer created for parsing metadata for PNG and WebP images was only bounded by their input data type, which could lead to potentially large memory allocation, and unreasonably high for image metadata. Before v0.11.0, If you didn't trust the input images, this could be abused to construct denial-of-service attacks. v0.11.0 added a 10 MB upper limit.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.9},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/bep/imagemeta/commit/ee0de9b029f4e82106729f69559f27c9a404229d","https://github.com/bep/imagemeta/security/advisories/GHSA-fmhh-rw3h-785m"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:57.946988208+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-32025","score":0.00181,"percentile":0.07639,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-fmhh-rw3h-785m","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-fmhh-rw3h-785m","summary":"bep/imagemeta allows a potentially large memory allocation in PNG and WebP parsing","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:23.805373661Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/bep/imagemeta","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/bep/imagemeta","ranges":["<0.11.0"],"fixed":["0.11.0"]}]},{"id":"GO-2025-3599","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2025-3599","summary":"bep/imagemeta allows a potentially large memory allocation in PNG and WebP parsing in github.com/bep/imagemeta","modified":"2026-02-04T03:02:08.474092Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/bep/imagemeta","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/bep/imagemeta","ranges":["<0.11.0"],"fixed":["0.11.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
