A vulnerability was identified in tarteaucitron.js prior to 1.20.1, where user-controlled inputs for element dimensions (width and height) were not properly validated. This allowed an attacker with direct access to the site's source code or a CMS plugin to set values like 100%;height:100%;position:fixed;, potentially covering the entire viewport and facilitating clickjacking attacks. An attacker with high privileges could exploit this vulnerability to overlay malicious UI elements on top of legitimate content, trick users into interacting with hidden elements (clickjacking), or disrupt the intended functionality and accessibility of the website. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.20.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L","score":6.6},"cwes":["CWE-1021"],"references":["https://github.com/AmauriC/tarteaucitron.js/commit/25fcf828aaa55306ddc09cfbac9a6f8f126e2d07","https://github.com/AmauriC/tarteaucitron.js/security/advisories/GHSA-7524-3396-fqv3"],"products":["amauri:tarteaucitronjs"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:57.946988208+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-31138","score":0.00271,"percentile":0.19351,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7524-3396-fqv3","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7524-3396-fqv3","summary":"tarteaucitron.js allows UI manipulation via unrestricted CSS injection","modified":"2025-04-07T18:12:11.701674Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"tarteaucitronjs","purl":"pkg:npm/tarteaucitronjs","ranges":["<1.20.1"],"fixed":["1.20.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
