{"cve":"CVE-2025-30204","nvd":{"published":"2025-03-21T22:15:26.420","modified":"2026-06-17T09:08:21.100","status":"Deferred","description":"golang-jwt is a Go implementation of JSON Web Tokens. Starting in version 3.2.0 and prior to versions 5.2.2 and 4.5.2, the function parse.ParseUnverified splits (via a call to strings.Split) its argument (which is untrusted data) on periods. As a result, in the face of a malicious request whose Authorization header consists of Bearer followed by many period characters, a call to that function incurs allocations to the tune of O(n) bytes (where n stands for the length of the function's argument), with a constant factor of about 16. This issue is fixed in 5.2.2 and 4.5.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-405"],"references":["https://github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/commit/0951d184286dece21f73c85673fd308786ffe9c3","https://github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/commit/bf316c48137a1212f8d0af9288cc9ce8e59f1afb","https://github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/security/advisories/GHSA-mh63-6h87-95cp","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20250404-0002/"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:28.034033815+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-30204","score":0.00811,"percentile":0.56964,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mh63-6h87-95cp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mh63-6h87-95cp","summary":"jwt-go allows excessive memory allocation during header parsing","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:56.801646453Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/v5","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/v5","ranges":[">=5.0.0-rc.1 <5.2.2"],"fixed":["5.2.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/v4","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/v4","ranges":["<4.5.2"],"fixed":["4.5.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/golang-jwt/jwt","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/golang-jwt/jwt","ranges":[">=3.2.0 <=3.2.2"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"GO-2025-3553","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2025-3553","summary":"Excessive memory allocation during header parsing in github.com/golang-jwt/jwt","modified":"2026-08-08T10:26:51.808116092Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/golang-jwt/jwt","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/golang-jwt/jwt","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/v4","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/v4","ranges":["<4.5.2"],"fixed":["4.5.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/v5","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/golang-jwt/jwt/v5","ranges":[">=5.0.0-rc.1 <5.2.2"],"fixed":["5.2.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
