{"cve":"CVE-2025-29776","nvd":{"published":"2025-03-14T14:15:18.847","modified":"2026-06-17T09:05:39.150","status":"Deferred","description":"Azle is a WebAssembly runtime for TypeScript and JavaScript on ICP. Calling `setTimer` in Azle versions `0.27.0`, `0.28.0`, and `0.29.0` causes an immediate infinite loop of timers to be executed on the canister, each timer attempting to clean up the global state of the previous timer. The infinite loop will occur with any valid invocation of `setTimer`. The problem has been fixed as of Azle version `0.30.0`. As a workaround, if a canister is caught in this infinite loop after calling `setTimer`, the canister can be upgraded and the timers will all be cleared, thus ending the loop.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:L","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-835"],"references":["https://github.com/demergent-labs/azle/releases/tag/0.30.0","https://github.com/demergent-labs/azle/security/advisories/GHSA-xc76-5pf9-mx8m"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:17.429720821+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-29776","score":0.00378,"percentile":0.3181,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xc76-5pf9-mx8m","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xc76-5pf9-mx8m","summary":"In Azle, calling `setTimer` causes infinite loop of timers","modified":"2025-03-15T20:47:15Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"azle","purl":"pkg:npm/azle","ranges":[">=0.27.0 <0.30.0"],"fixed":["0.30.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
