Specifying 'NameScope.DESCENDENT' promises that \"an exception is thrown if the resolved file is not a descendent of\nthe base file\". However, when the path contains encoded \"..\"\ncharacters (for example, \"%2E%2E/bar.txt\"), it might return file objects that are not\na descendent of the base file, without throwing an exception.\nThis issue affects Apache Commons VFS: before 2.10.0.\n\nUsers are recommended to upgrade to version 2.10.0, which fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-23"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread/cnzqowyw9r2pl263cylmxhnvh41hyjcb","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2025/03/23/1","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2025/04/msg00006.html"],"products":["apache:commons_vfs"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:28.034033815+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-27553","score":0.01425,"percentile":0.72919,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9q4x-fr4m-jp86","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9q4x-fr4m-jp86","summary":"Apache Commons VFS Has Relative Path Traversal Vulnerability","modified":"2025-04-03T01:24:03.415749Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.commons:commons-vfs2","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.commons/commons-vfs2","ranges":["<2.10.0"],"fixed":["2.10.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
