OpenDJ prior to 4.9.3 contains a denial-of-service (DoS) vulnerability that causes the server to become unresponsive to all LDAP requests without crashing or restarting. This issue occurs when an alias loop exists in the LDAP database. If an ldapsearch request is executed with alias dereferencing set to \"always\" on this alias entry, the server stops responding to all future requests. Fortunately, the server can be restarted without data corruption. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.9.3.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-835"],"references":["https://github.com/OpenIdentityPlatform/OpenDJ/commit/08aee4724608e4a32baa3c7d7499ec913a275aaf","https://github.com/OpenIdentityPlatform/OpenDJ/security/advisories/GHSA-93qr-h8pr-4593"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:17.429720821+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-27497","score":0.00389,"percentile":0.33088,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-93qr-h8pr-4593","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-93qr-h8pr-4593","summary":"OpenDJ Denial of Service (DoS) using alias loop","modified":"2025-03-05T18:42:10.105936Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.openidentityplatform.opendj:opendj-server-legacy","purl":"pkg:maven/org.openidentityplatform.opendj/opendj-server-legacy","ranges":["<4.9.3"],"fixed":["4.9.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
