Vyper `sqrt()` builtin uses the babylonian method to calculate square roots of decimals. Unfortunately, improper handling of the oscillating final states may lead to sqrt incorrectly returning rounded up results. This issue is being addressed and a fix is expected in version 0.4.1. Users are advised to upgrade as soon as the patched release is available. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":2.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-682"],"references":["https://github.com/vyperlang/vyper/pull/4486","https://github.com/vyperlang/vyper/security/advisories/GHSA-2p94-8669-xg86"],"products":["vyperlang:vyper"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:59:48.811064707+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-26622","score":0.00327,"percentile":0.25801,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-2p94-8669-xg86","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-2p94-8669-xg86","summary":"Vyper's sqrt doesn't define rounding behavior","modified":"2025-04-09T20:37:37.669693Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vyper","purl":"pkg:pypi/vyper","ranges":["<0.4.1"],"fixed":["0.4.1"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2025-29","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2025-29","summary":"","modified":"2025-04-09T17:59:24.650337Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vyper","purl":"pkg:pypi/vyper","ranges":["<0.4.1"],"fixed":["0.4.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
