A machine-in-the-middle attack can be performed by a malicious machine impersonating a legit server. This issue occurs due to how OpenSSH mishandles error codes in specific conditions when verifying the host key. For an attack to be considered successful, the attacker needs to manage to exhaust the client's memory resource first, turning the attack complexity high.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":6.8},"cwes":["CWE-390"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2025:16823","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2025:3837","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2025:6993","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2025:8385","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2025-26465"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","netapp:active_iq_unified_manager","netapp:ontap","openbsd:openssh","redhat:enterprise_linux","redhat:openshift_container_platform"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-22T16:41:11.231219466+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-26465","score":0.07723,"percentile":0.94578,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
