{"cve":"CVE-2025-25285","nvd":{"published":"2025-02-14T20:15:34.487","modified":"2026-06-17T09:00:36.990","status":"Deferred","description":"@octokit/endpoint turns REST API endpoints into generic request options. Starting in version 4.1.0 and prior to version 10.1.3, by crafting specific `options` parameters, the `endpoint.parse(options)` call can be triggered, leading to a regular expression denial-of-service (ReDoS) attack. This causes the program to hang and results in high CPU utilization. The issue occurs in the `parse` function within the `parse.ts` file of the npm package `@octokit/endpoint`. Version 10.1.3 contains a patch for the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-1333"],"references":["https://github.com/octokit/endpoint.js/blob/main/src/parse.ts","https://github.com/octokit/endpoint.js/commit/6c9c5be033c450d436efb37de41b6470c22f7db8","https://github.com/octokit/endpoint.js/security/advisories/GHSA-x4c5-c7rf-jjgv"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:59:18.731010617+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-25285","score":0.00628,"percentile":0.50087,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x4c5-c7rf-jjgv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x4c5-c7rf-jjgv","summary":"@octokit/endpoint has a Regular Expression in parse that Leads to ReDoS Vulnerability Due to Catastrophic Backtracking","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:06.147120343Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@octokit/endpoint","purl":"pkg:npm/%40octokit/endpoint","ranges":[">=9.0.5 <9.0.6"],"fixed":["9.0.6"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@octokit/endpoint","purl":"pkg:npm/%40octokit/endpoint","ranges":[">=10.0.0 <10.1.3"],"fixed":["10.1.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
