This requires user interaction in the form of the user using ‘tab’ to autocomplete text that is a prefix of the attacker’s prepared autocompletion. This issue affects mongosh versions prior to 2.3.9. \n\n\nThe vulnerability is exploitable only when mongosh is connected to a cluster that is partially or fully controlled by an attacker.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-74"],"references":["https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/MONGOSH-2024"],"products":["mongodb:mongosh"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:59:48.811064707+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-1691","score":0.00356,"percentile":0.29329,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-43g5-2wr2-q7vj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-43g5-2wr2-q7vj","summary":"MongoDB Shell may be susceptible to Control Character Injection via autocomplete","modified":"2025-02-27T17:57:01.696222Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"mongosh","purl":"pkg:npm/mongosh","ranges":["<2.3.9"],"fixed":["2.3.9"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
