{"cve":"CVE-2025-14525","nvd":{"published":"2026-01-26T20:16:08.163","modified":"2026-06-17T08:36:04.827","status":"Deferred","description":"A flaw was found in kubevirt. A user within a virtual machine (VM), if the guest agent is active, can exploit this by causing the agent to report an excessive number of network interfaces. This action can overwhelm the system's ability to store VM configuration updates, effectively blocking changes to the Virtual Machine Instance (VMI). This allows the VM user to restrict the VM administrator's ability to manage the VM, leading to a denial of service for administrative operations.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:L/A:L","score":6.4},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2025-14525","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2421360"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:21:16.563232421+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-14525","score":0.00285,"percentile":0.21074,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-25mh-hp8x-cgrv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-25mh-hp8x-cgrv","summary":"KubeVirt Guest Agent DoS via Excessive Network Interface Reports","modified":"2026-09-10T03:49:54.432205768Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"kubevirt.io/kubevirt","purl":"pkg:golang/kubevirt.io/kubevirt","ranges":["<=1.7.0"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-4384","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-4384","summary":"KubeVirt Guest Agent DoS via Excessive Network Interface Reports in kubevirt.io/kubevirt","modified":"2026-06-20T18:29:20.680726778Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"kubevirt.io/kubevirt","purl":"pkg:golang/kubevirt.io/kubevirt","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
