An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability by uploading a file with a malicious\nfilename containing JavaScript code (e.g., \"<img src=1 onerror=alert(document.domain)>\") to a Webform node with a Multifile field where file type validation is disabled. This allows the execution of arbitrary scripts\nin the context of the victim's browser.\n \nThe issue is present in a third-party library and has been addressed in a patch available at  https://github.com/fyneworks/multifile/pull/44 . Users are advised to apply the provided patch or update to a fixed version of the module.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:L/VI:L/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/S:N/R:U/V:D/RE:L/U:Amber","score":7.0},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://d7es.tag1.com/security-advisories/webform-multiple-file-upload-critical-cross-site-scripting","https://www.d7security.org/security-advisories/D7SECURITY-SA-CONTRIB-2025-001/","https://www.drupal.org/node/3105204","https://www.herodevs.com/vulnerability-directory/cve-2025-12848"],"products":["webform_multiple_file_upload_project:webform_multiple_file_upload"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:16:02.354564667+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-12848","score":0.00357,"percentile":0.29421,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
