It trusts branch names as they are (plain text)\r2. It spawns git commands by concatenating user input\r\rSince a branch name is potentially a user input - as users can create branches remotely via pull requests, or simply due to privileged access to a repository - it can effectively be abused to run any command.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://gist.github.com/lirantal/054b4ad039a86c418f2c84e3e884d6ec","https://security.snyk.io/vuln/SNYK-JS-CHECKBRANCHES-2766494"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:11:26.888974865+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-11148","score":0.01354,"percentile":0.71615,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9c4g-fp4r-prrv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9c4g-fp4r-prrv","summary":"check-branches is vulnerable to command Injection","modified":"2025-10-03T18:22:21Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"check-branches","purl":"pkg:npm/check-branches","ranges":["<=0.0.19"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
