This vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary Python code via deserialization of malicious payloads, potentially leading to a full system compromise. The ShelveStore class uses Python's shelve module to manage session data, which relies on pickle for serialization. Crafting a malicious payload and storing it in the shelve file can lead to RCE when the payload is deserialized.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://github.com/kedro-org/kedro/commit/d79fa51de55ac0ccb58cce1a482df1b445f0fe7c","https://huntr.com/bounties/96c77fef-93b2-4d4d-8cbe-57a718d8eea5"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:28.034033815+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-9701","score":0.0114,"percentile":0.6663,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-747f-ww56-4q4h","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-747f-ww56-4q4h","summary":"Kedro deserialization vulnerability","modified":"2026-07-06T15:30:15.808816534Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"kedro","purl":"pkg:pypi/kedro","ranges":["<0.19.9"],"fixed":["0.19.9"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-367","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-367","summary":"Kedro deserialization vulnerability","modified":"2026-07-01T20:22:55.037549Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"kedro","purl":"pkg:pypi/kedro","ranges":["<0.19.9"],"fixed":["0.19.9"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
