When an HTTP smuggling request with an ASCII control character is sent, it causes the Netty HttpObjectDecoder to transition into a BAD_MESSAGE state. As a result, any subsequent legitimate requests on the same connection are ignored, leading to client timeouts, which may impact systems using load balancers and expose them to risk.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-444"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2024-9622","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2317179","https://github.com/orgs/resteasy/discussions/4351","https://github.com/resteasy/resteasy"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:55:31.737901711+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-9622","score":0.00649,"percentile":0.51119,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5wpr-cj9p-959r","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5wpr-cj9p-959r","summary":"HTTP Request Smuggling Leading to Client Timeouts in resteasy-netty4","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:19.332553195Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.jboss.resteasy:resteasy-netty4-cdi","purl":"pkg:maven/org.jboss.resteasy/resteasy-netty4-cdi","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
