This vulnerability can be exploited by appending characters, such as dashes (-), to the end of a multipart boundary in an HTTP request. The server continuously processes each character, leading to excessive resource consumption and rendering the service unavailable. The issue is unauthenticated and does not require any user interaction, impacting all users of the service.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/berriai/litellm/commit/4f49f836aa844ac9b6bfbeff27e6f6b2b9cf3f61","https://huntr.com/bounties/554fc76b-3097-4223-b4cf-110b853e9355"],"products":["litellm:litellm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:00:17.429720821+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-8984","score":0.00857,"percentile":0.58437,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-fh2c-86xm-pm2x","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-fh2c-86xm-pm2x","summary":"LiteLLM Vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) via Crafted HTTP Request","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:23.212886789Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"litellm","purl":"pkg:pypi/litellm","ranges":["<1.56.2"],"fixed":["1.56.2"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-1545","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-1545","summary":"LiteLLM Vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) via Crafted HTTP Request","modified":"2026-07-07T17:46:52.755581343Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"litellm","purl":"pkg:pypi/litellm","ranges":["<1.56.2"],"fixed":["1.56.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
