{"cve":"CVE-2024-6038","nvd":{"published":"2024-06-27T19:15:19.040","modified":"2026-06-17T08:17:09.450","status":"Modified","description":"A Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) vulnerability exists in the latest version of gaizhenbiao/chuanhuchatgpt. The vulnerability is located in the filter_history function within the utils.py module. This function takes a user-provided keyword and attempts to match it against chat history filenames using a regular expression search. Due to the lack of sanitization or validation of the keyword parameter, an attacker can inject a specially crafted regular expression, leading to a denial of service condition. This can cause severe degradation of service performance and potential system unavailability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-1333"],"references":["https://github.com/gaizhenbiao/chuanhuchatgpt/commit/fcdd5fd6b05ef537a1db185ab115758d87e1ba3f","https://huntr.com/bounties/d41cca0a-82bc-4cbf-a52a-928d304fb42d","https://huntr.com/bounties/d41cca0a-82bc-4cbf-a52a-928d304fb42d"],"products":["gaizhenbiao:chuanhuchatgpt"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:52:00.836172422+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-6038","score":0.00657,"percentile":0.51455,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"PYSEC-2024-318","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2024-318","summary":"","modified":"2026-07-13T07:15:21.472155089Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"chuanhuchatgpt","purl":"pkg:pypi/chuanhuchatgpt","ranges":["<=20240410"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
