{"cve":"CVE-2024-58383","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-14T13:17:15.150","modified":"2026-10-08T16:16:50.077","status":"Deferred","description":"Froxlor before 2.2.0 (affected up to and including 2.2.0-rc3) generates /etc/pure-ftpd/db/mysql.conf with mode 0644 via the XML configuration templates in lib/configfiles/, even though the file contains the Froxlor SQL user's password. On systems where the parent directories are world readable (the default on Debian 12), any unprivileged local user able to execute commands or code on the host — including virtual users without SSH access who can upload PHP/CGI scripts — can read the file and obtain the Froxlor database credentials. Database access can then be leveraged to alter an administrator's password hash and TOTP seed, log in as a Froxlor administrator, and ultimately gain root privileges. Only instances configured to use pure-ftpd are affected.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.4},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:L","score":7.3},"cwes":["CWE-732"],"references":["https://github.com/froxlor/froxlor/security/advisories/GHSA-34qg-65m4-f23m","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/froxlor-before-2.2.0-insecure-file-permissions-mysql-conf"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:53:43.293028046+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-58383","score":0.00155,"percentile":0.04602,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
