Other, older, EOL versions \nmay also be affected.\n\n\nThe mitigation for CVE-2024-50379 was incomplete.\n\nUsers running Tomcat on a case insensitive file system with the default servlet write enabled (readonly initialisation \nparameter set to the non-default value of false) may need additional configuration to fully mitigate CVE-2024-50379 depending on which version of Java they are using with Tomcat:\n- running on Java 8 or Java 11: the system property sun.io.useCanonCaches must be explicitly set to false (it defaults to true)\n- running on Java 17: the system property sun.io.useCanonCaches, if set, must be set to false (it defaults to false)\n- running on Java 21 onwards: no further configuration is required (the system property and the problematic cache have been removed)\n\nTomcat 11.0.3, 10.1.35 and 9.0.99 onwards will include checks that sun.io.useCanonCaches is set appropriately before allowing the default servlet to be write enabled on a case insensitive file system. Tomcat will also set sun.io.useCanonCaches to false by default where it can.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-367"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread/b2b9qrgjrz1kvo4ym8y2wkfdvwoq6qbp","https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2024-50379","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2025/01/msg00009.html","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20250103-0002/"],"products":["apache:tomcat","netapp:bootstrap_os"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:57:56.913276502+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2024-56337","score":0.08969,"percentile":0.95258,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-27hp-xhwr-wr2m","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-27hp-xhwr-wr2m","summary":"Apache Tomcat Time-of-check Time-of-use (TOCTOU) Race Condition vulnerability","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:56.287801425Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.tomcat:tomcat-catalina","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.tomcat/tomcat-catalina","ranges":[">=11.0.0-M1 <11.0.2"],"fixed":["11.0.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.tomcat:tomcat-catalina","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.tomcat/tomcat-catalina","ranges":[">=10.1.0-M1 <10.1.34"],"fixed":["10.1.34"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.tomcat:tomcat-embed-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.tomcat/tomcat-embed-core","ranges":[">=9.0.0.M1 <9.0.98"],"fixed":["9.0.98"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.tomcat.embed:tomcat-embed-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.tomcat.embed/tomcat-embed-core","ranges":[">=11.0.0-M1 <11.0.2"],"fixed":["11.0.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.tomcat.embed:tomcat-embed-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.tomcat.embed/tomcat-embed-core","ranges":[">=10.1.0-M1 <10.1.34"],"fixed":["10.1.34"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.tomcat.embed:tomcat-embed-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.tomcat.embed/tomcat-embed-core","ranges":[">=9.0.0.M1 <9.0.98"],"fixed":["9.0.98"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
